A Square in a square block is made up of 1 large square and 4 smaller squares.
To begin draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of each of the smaller 4 squares
Place 2 of the smaller squares, right sides together, in the corners of the large square so that they are diagonally opposite.
Sew exactly on the drawn line of both squares.
Trim away the part of the small square on the outside of the sewn line.
Press the corners outwards.
Place the remaining 2 small squares on the opposite corners of the larger square. Repeat the sewing and pressing for the first set of squares. Be aware that the fabric of the small squares will overlap in the middle, this is needed to be able to provide the ¼” seam allowance on the finished block: trim the corners and press.
This is how the finished block should look. There should be a ¼” seam allowance of fabric in the centre on each side.
